Presidential Candidate Nayed Holds a Call with US Ambassador Norland

US Ambassador and Special Envoy, Richard Norland, and Presidential candidate and Chairman of Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya), Dr. Aref Nayed, held a call today to discuss several key issues regarding Libya.

They discussed the following issues:

(a) The need to preserve the security and safety of Libyan citizens, their capabilities and livelihood, end all forms of violence and armed conflict and end all forms of foreign military presence on Libyan soil.

(b) Need to expedite support for Presidential and Parliamentary elections as they are the only way to renew legitimacy, accommodate all differences peacefully, respect the will of over 2.8 million female and male voters, and work with the new UN envoy to achieve this urgently. (c) Need to renew and activate all international obligations under the successive UNSC resolutions, outcomes of Paris and Berlin conferences and others, and obligating all to respect the will of Libyan people through direct Presidential and Parliamentary elections which are transparent, fair and monitored locally, regionally and internationally, without any further manipulation, procrastination or delay.
