Libyan Political Parties and Movements Support Ratification of the Fezzan Charter
September 16, 2021
A consortium of 14 Libyan political parties and movements issued a joint communiqué to support and praise the ratification of the Fezzan Charter this week by the social components of the South of Libya, and stressed that the stability of the South “will reflect positively on the stability, development and prosperity of Libya.”
An official joint communiqué was issued by 14 Libyan political parties and movements on the ratification of the Fezzan Charter for Peaceful Coexistence and Social Harmony.
The joint communiqué praised the “courageous” step taken by the social fabric leaders of the South of Libya. The statement urged all entities in the Fezzan to support this Charter in order to create a “suitable ground for sustainable reconciliation in a region that has suffered from the scourge of conflicts and divisions that had a dire impact on security and economic stability and the provision of services in the region and made it an easy prey for terrorism, smuggling and organized crime.”
The communiqué stressed also that the ratification of the Fezzan Charter affirmed pan-Libya “mobilization for the renewal of national legitimacy” through Presidential and Parliamentary elections on 24 December 2021.
AlMarsad published here the full English translation of the joint communiqué:
Statement by Libyan Political Parties and Movements on the Ratification
of Southern Libya’s Charter for Peaceful Coexistence and Social Harmony
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
“May a community arise from you that calls for good.”
(Holy Quran, Al-Imran: Part of Verse 104)
Libyan political parties, movements, and organizations, hereby, welcome the important and courageous step taken by the social components of our beloved South, which culminated in the ratification of the Fezzan Charter for Peaceful Coexistence and Social Harmony in the initials on 26 July 2021 in the Libyan Capital, Tripoli, and the final signing of the Charter in the Libyan cities of al-Jufra, Wadi al-Shatti, Ubari, Ghat, Murzuq and Sebha in the period from 12 September 2021 to 15 September 2021, which reflects the desire and resolve of the people of Southern Libya to put aside the differences of the past and align with the stabilization and development of their areas, and thus preserving the social fabric in region.
As the national political forces hail the courage and patriotism of all contributors to the success of this initiative, they urge all the honorable patriots of Fezzan to support and abide by the provisions of the Charter because of its role in creating a suitable ground for sustainable reconciliation in a region that has suffered from the scourge of conflicts and divisions that had a dire impact on security and economic stability and the provision of services in the region and made it easy prey for terrorism, smuggling and organized crime.
We, as national political forces, are well aware that the stability of our beloved South will reflect positively on the stability, development and prosperity of Libya at large, and that this step will not be successful except through the concerted efforts of our patriotic people of our beloved South and the provision of support by everyone who is keen on the interest of the country in all parts of Libya.
We, hereby, consider this step an added value that strongly affirms the ongoing pan-Libya mobilization for the renewal of national legitimacy through holding the general elections of the President of the State and Parliament on their specified date on 24 December 2021.
God Bless You All
May God Save Libya and the Libyan People
