Aref Nayed Meets Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow

Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received on Friday in Moscow the Chairman of the Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya) Party and Presidential candidate, Dr. Aref Nayed.

According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, they exchanged views on the evolving situation in Libya with an emphasis on the problems of a comprehensive settlement in the country and the importance of elections this year.

The Russian side reaffirmed its consistent position on the importance of holding Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Libya on 24 December 2021, in accordance with the Roadmap of the political process developed under the auspices of the UN and the decisions of international conferences in Berlin and Paris.

Nayed called on Moscow and the Security Council to ensure transparency, fairness, and respect for all provisions of the election law and to apply them to all applicants without exception or exclusion.
