The Statement of Coordination of the national parties and blocs regarding
foreign interference in the sovereignty of the Libyan people<\/strong><\/p>\n

The parties and blocs that have signed this statement have followed the demonstrations of the Libyan people in the cities and villages, who refuse the postponement of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections and the obstruction of their rights, and insist and demanding that they be held without delay. It also followed the statements of countries such as the UK, US, Germany, Italy, and France, and the statements of ambassadors from some of these countries regarding the postponement process and its repercussions, and therefore they affirmed the following:<\/p>\n

Firstly<\/strong>: We support and stand with the Libyan people in achieving the goal of voting to choose the head of state and members of the House of Representatives freely, impartially, and without delay or obstruction.<\/p>\n

Secondly<\/strong>: We express our regret for what was issued provocatively by some diplomatic missions which were inconsistent with the aspirations of the Libyan people, and which they expressed in their demonstrations on the Friday of Salvation and the following days in various cities\u2014demanding an end to the legitimacy of the interim Government of National Unity and the holding of Presidential and Parliamentary elections, as detailed by the High National Election Commission. We call on the governments of these countries to correct their position in a way that supports the aspirations of the Libyan people and guarantees their right to hold free and secure elections.<\/p>\n

Thirdly<\/strong>: We affirm our warning that continuing to ignore the demands of the Libyan people and not listening to their voices will cause repercussions that are difficult to control. We consider that the positions that are inconsistent with the aspirations of our people represent an invitation to instability and a continuation of a crisis that the people are not able to bear, and these countries, along with the Libyan obstructionists, bear the failure of these elections. It order to ensure that elections are held on 24 January 2022, it is necessary for countries to submit a list of the names of those who obstruct the elections, and we call on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to issue effective sanctions against them.<\/p>\n

A consortium of national parties and movements issued a statement condemning foreign interference in Libya\u2019s sovereignty and demand that authorities heed the call of the Libyan people and their demand that elections be held without further postponement. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":532,"featured_media":51423,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"The Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya) Movement and the Civil Democratic Party sent a letter to UN envoy, J\u00e1n Kubi\u0161, on the latest developments in the current political situation in the country, and to urge the UN to punish those who wish to sabotage the 24 December elections.<\/strong>\r\n

(LIBYA, 29 June 2021) \u2013 In the joint letter by the Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya) Movement and the Civil Democratic Party to the UN envoy, J\u00e1n Kubi\u0161, they thanked the UN mission for its efforts towards holding direct Presidential and Parliamentary elections on time on 24 December 2021, along with its support for the elected House of Representatives (HoR), and its public affirmation through statements and briefings that issuing the constitutional rule and the election laws was an inherent right of the Libyan Parliament.<\/p>\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe letter also commended the UN Missions\u2019s position \u201cthat the outcomes of the meetings of the unelected Committee of 75 must return to the House of Representatives to gain its legitimacy based on the electoral legitimacy of the House of Representatives.\u201d\r\n\r\nThe letter cautioned the Committee of 75 and the legal committee emanating from it not to delve into constitutional and foundational matters, or try to convert their advisory drafts into an alternative constitutional declaration, because they are a selected and unelected committee\u2014noting that the rule necessary for elections already exists, which is the decisions of the February 2014 committee.\r\n
